Feeling Lost and Uncreative?

Feeling Lost and Uncreative? Read This.

“There’s so much noise around the art of creating—whether it’s making music, film, TV, or anything else. But when someone takes the time to listen, to meet you where you were when you made the thing, and then carries it with them in their daily life as a tool to help them through whatever they’re going through—you become a part of their lives.

You’ve created something that sticks with them, something they get to carry with them. That is possibly one of the most incredible honors you can have.

Anything else is just not important. That is the important thing: making things that people can hold on to when there’s nothing else to hold on to. Refocusing on that, especially when everything else feels out of focus, is really, really special.”

– Cynthia Erivo, songwriter.

If you’re struggling right now—whether with your writing, music, art, or even building a business that could change lives—this is your reminder: you’re creating something that matters.

It’s easy to get caught up in numbers, money, recognition, or self-doubt.

And if you’ve been caught up with the “I’m struggling and I need to make more money” thoughts (I’ve been there many times), here’s some wisdom my dear friend Shawn recently shared online:

“Always see money as a tool to pursue creating your big projects. Never use your projects to pursue money. Money loves a project. So you’ll always have money if you see it that way.” – Shawn D Phelps, Clairvoyant Coach

It’s easy to feel like what you’re doing isn’t making an impact.

But out there, someone needs what you’re making. A song that keeps them going. A book that helps them feel less alone. A product that makes life easier. A message that reminds them to keep pushing forward.

You might never know whose life you’ve touched. You may never hear their words of gratitude. But they exist. And they carry a part of your work with them, just like you’ve carried the things that once moved you.

So if today feels hard, focus on what truly matters: the work, the meaning, and the people who need it.

Keep going. The world needs what you’re making (or what your heart calls you to make).
